Teach English: Left and Right ESL Song

Posted on September 9th, 2009 by admin

Lesson Plan & CD at
http://genkienglish.net/leftright.htm

This is one of the first songs we use when teaching Genki English. For many of the kids here this was their first ever English lesson.

The Japanese talking part at the end goes through how to teach Genki English songs i.e.

1) Teach the new words with actions ( quite easy for this song!)
2) Run through the song a couple of times
3) Kick in the CD to get them singing as loud as they are in the video.

The song is taken from Genki English CD Vol. 1 ( http://genkienglish.net/cd1remix.htm )
and the full lesson plan, including the follow up “Mr Bump” & “Star Wars Lightsaber Battle” is at:
http://genkienglish.net/leftright.htm

Enjoy!

Teach English: What time is it, Mr Wolf? ESL Song

Posted on August 30th, 2009 by admin

Lesson Plan & CD is at:
http://genkienglish.net/mrwolfsong.htm

This song is used to teach children how to say the time in English. As you can probably tell it’s used to lead into the “What time is it, Mr Wolf?” game.

Usually we use this after a few lessons, but many classes, including most of the ones here, can manage it even from the first lesson. Provided they can tell the time in their own language of course!

In the Japanese talky bit at the end I go through why it is important to use loud voices in class. i.e. if everyone speaks at normal volumes then the shy kids will probably say nothing at all, but if everyone is singing at full volume even the shy kids will try a little bit. I think you can probably tell this from the video!

The song is taken from Genki English volume 2: http://genkienglish.net/cd2.htm

There’s more on the lesson plan page at:
