What lesson did spanking ever teach you?

Posted on October 17th, 2009 by admin

Many parents believe that spanking is a good way to teach a child a lesson ,,
What did it ever teach you ?
Leslie thats a good point and i agree .
E I B so you had to be hit in order to teach you respect ?

Depends on the age. I have 3 grown kids and raised them on my mother’s advice. Spanking should only be done in a life or death situation. If you have a toddler that plays with matches or darts out in front of traffic then they need a spanking. They will remember not to do that again. Something like that could kill them. This is rule I used for my decisions. Of course by school age or there about this was not a problem because they were all well behaved and didn’t do stuff like that anymore. Must have learned their lessons. lol Anyway 3 great (not perfect mind you) but smart well adjusted happy contributing citizens.

What should I do for my first lesson tutoring a 4th grader?

Posted on October 11th, 2009 by admin

I am in highschool and am going to try tutoring a 4th grader. She moved here a few years ago (I think) so I am supposed to teach her reading and writing. Could I get some ideas on what to do for the first lesson and future lessons?

It seems to me that you should start by using her school books. Then you could think of other books in her reading category as you go along. Find out how well she can read and write. I assume this is an ESL student. She’ll be happy with any help she can get.

What is the lesson to be learned from pollution?

Posted on October 9th, 2009 by admin

Can anyone give me a good phrase or the lesson to be learned from polluting the earth such as littering. I need like a good phrase on this for my school assignment.

Ever since the beginning of civilization, history is replete with records of crime committed by man against nature, green forests have been cut down, http://www.boddunan.com/component/content/article/24-arts-a-science/4166-pollution-of-environment.html?directory=3
verdant valleys hallowed and ploughed mercilessly and then left dry and fallow, free flowing…

What are some ways you can teach your little sister a lesson?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

My sister is the most agervating person i know. She is always doing something that will hurt me in the future. I really want to get back at her by playing a joke on her that will not only teach her a lesson but it will remind her that i am the older sister.

set a good example for her, by being patient and tolerant. but explain (even if it takes 100 times) what it is that she does to aggravate you and why you want her to stop.

What should I do for my first lesson tutoring a 4th grader?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin

She moved here a few years ago (I think) so I am supposed to teach her reading and writing. Could I get some ideas on what to do for the first lesson and future lessons?

First you need to find out how much she can read. If she moved here from another country, she may only know how to read at a younger level and may not understand how to pronounce all the words she is reading, so you first need to get her to understand how to pronounce all the words correctly. Also make it fun, make it a game, like memory, after you know all the words she can pronounce put them on 3 X 5 cards, two each and play the game. Then after she gets really good at that, add a new word each week. Good Luck. You can email at Jshs90@yahoo.com if you want more suggestions.

What is a good song to sing at your first singing lesson?

Posted on September 25th, 2009 by admin

If I am expected to sing a song at my first lesson I was wondering what might be a good choice? I had a couple of ideas but I forgot what the songs were or realized that I didn’t completely know the lyrics…I want to show and let the teacher hear what my voice’s potential is. I am sure a teacher will know no matter but I want to do my best and the song has to be right.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Definitely a song that you’re familiar & comfortable with - you’ll have enough to focus on without having to remember how the song goes. I recommend a show tune, those are always fun and show your range well. I definitely remember starting off my singing lessons with stuff like "In My Own Little Corner" (Cinderella) and "Tomorrow" (Annie).

What is a good lesson to help teach children all of these terms in one class period?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

I need to teach a lesson on these vocab words: hibernation, migration, camouflage, mimicry, instinct, and learned behavior

to 3rd graders. I want it to be fun and interactive but at the same time I need to get the point across quickly and easily.

First, teach the children the vocabulary words in context so they will have more meaning. Then make a vocabulary concentration game for them to play in small groups of 3 or 4. Run (on colored or heavy paper) one sheet containing two sets of the terms, laid out in a flashcard format (boxes). You are doing two sets because there are not that many terms. On another sheet, in the same flashcard format, print two sets of the definitions.

To play, the children cut out their cards, mix them up well, and lay them in a grid pattern. They take turns picking two cards and reading them aloud. If they pick a vocab word and its correct definition, they may keep the cards. They then get another turn. If the cards do not make a set, the cards are returned to the same spot they were taken from and play goes to the person on the left. Whoever has the most cards when all cards have been won is the winner.

What type of boots should I wear for a Western Horsemanship Lesson?

Posted on September 21st, 2009 by admin

I just bought a pair of Justin Blue Boots to ride in. Do you think that they are too fancy for a lesson? They are also really pointed. Do you think that they would be alright?

justin blue’s will be fine as long as they are comfortable.take some 60 grit sandpaper and sand the wax off the soles of the boot(the bottom where the ball of your foot is)so they dont slip in the sturrup.the toe you are talking about is called a "j toe"and is more of a fashion statement than anything else.you can usually tell what part of the country a cowboy is from by the type of boot he wears and the type of hat he wears.pointed toes were traditionaly used by "vaqueros" in california, nevada, new mexico, colorado and arizona because of the low lying brush.the toe wouldnt get caught in the sage brush and scrub oak but would cut through it so your horse wouldnt get spurred as easily.

I need ideas for a lesson plan for 1st graders that involves plants and seeds.?

Posted on September 17th, 2009 by admin

I have to use the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and incorporate technology with the lesson. I am planning on using a PowerPoint.
Any ideas, lessons, anything will help??? I am just about to enter student teaching.

The best lesson would include planting the seeds. Beans and peas sprout pretty quickly, especially if you soak them a couple hours before planting. Hands on. You can watch them and measure their growth.
