What’s the best lesson you’ve learned in Kindergarten?

I learned that not everyone wants to know what I’m thinking at any given time.
I learned that not everyone wants to know what I’m thinking at any given time.
For example:
Math: I’m having the children match up the numbers of a picture of a guitar which has adding or subtracting to a piture of a person which has the answers.
Art: Children listen to Elvis and create a painting based on how the music makes them feel.
Etc.
This site should answer nearly all of your teaching category questions:

as little as kindergarten
Keep in mind that 95% or the so called "free downloads" out there are covered by copyright laws, and not legal
Maybe someone can find you a site that has a few legal downloads?
I don’t know of any
Nothing crafty please. Preferably something that will allow students to use their individual creativity.
Note: I am not asking people to do my job for me lol. I have a lesson plan for tomorrow, but I was just curious to hear of any other creative ideas you people may have.

Looking for ideas and songs that involve movement in between lessons/activities, etc.
Fingerplays, such as "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes" are great. You can find lots of them in the books listed below. Simon Sez is another fun activity that teaches listening skills while getting kids active. Putting on different types of music and having them move to the rhythm (fast dance, slow classical, etc.) is also great.
The website http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/songspoems.html has lots of wonderful songs for small children, all listed by subject.
Wiggle worm is a fun game. The teacher holds up a bunch of flashcards with different pictures (can be shapes, animals, letters, whatever you are working on), and has a few pictures of the wiggle worm mixed in. As the teacher shows each card, she asks "Is this the wiggle worm" and the students reply, "No, it’s __." When they get to a picture of the wiggle worm, they all stand up and wiggle around for a minute, and then sit down to continue the game.
How can you explain to kindergarteners what a 3d shape is? They know what it is by looking at them, and can distinguish them from 2D shapes, but they need words to describe them. Remember, these are 5 year olds. They don’t know the terms: dimension, length, width, height, volume, etc…. HELP!!
I am in an elementary education program and need this for a lesson I have to teach. Thanks
a three dimensional shape is anything you can find in real life. you can see how tall (or to make it simpler how far up and down it goes), wide (or how far side to side it goes), or how far back a three d shape goes.
a two dimensional shape is anything you can draw (thats not a line, or a dot.) you can see how tall it is, or how wide it is, but you can’t see how far back it goes.
these are very simple terms but dimensions might be more fit for first and second graders as opposed to kindergarden kids
I am working on lessons for my future classroom. I need to do another science lesson for my class to have my teacher look over and approve. Any suggestions would help. I am looking to have something in the second grade level, however, anything in Kindergarten through Second Grade would be great. Also if you kno the MASS. standards have them work into that if not I know i can find where they would be placed…
Ne help with ideas would be excellent!
10 points given to best answer will be given by Tuesday Night
Thanks!
There are a lot of great hands on activities you can do with the weather cycle. My son is in first grade and just did a whole unit on it.
We are going tot each them other nationality traditions for christmas. What are some nationalities we could use? (I already have german, irish, italian, and india).

Maybe he was asleep like he was for 20 years in Reverend Wright’s Church of hate.
It never ceases to amaze me of the psychology of the right and republicans. Name call !! Make up things you know are not correct,,and then tell all your other right thinkers of like mind ..And say it again and again and again and again until you believe its the truth. Insult and say anything to divide America and pit all of us against each other. You call each other ”Great Americans" when in fact, your an embarrassment to America and each other. Look at your question and your details..Your a very disturbed ”Party Hack" That’s not to say you don’t believe your right. Your kind has convinced one another that you are,,and even though you and your Republican right have created the mess you put America into,,your too self centered and selfish to even realize that YOU and YOUR kind are the Real problem with America !!
