Does guitar lessons teach you how to play guitar better? Or just teaches you the chords and stuff?

Posted on July 19th, 2011 by admin

I have a guitar and I know how to play because I search tabs on google and I can search chords. Does guitar lessons help you? How?

A good teacher will teach you how to read music, know the notes and understand the fretboard, understand basic music theory (scales and chord theory), and make you a much better all-around guitarist than if you just go online and copy what you see on tabs and chord charts. Anybody can look at a picture of a guitar neck, figure out where to put their fingers, and strum their hand up and down against the strings with enough practice. A guitar teacher will actually teach you music and how to create it with the guitar as your instrument. When you can pick a key, understand the chord progressions and scales and modes in that key and play anything you want, then you’ll know you’re a good guitarist. That’s hard to do without lessons (not impossible, but hard).

Where can i find the cheapest guitar lessons for 13 year old?

Posted on April 8th, 2011 by admin

I am in hurstville, where can i find the cheapest guitar lessons for my son?
There are so expensive out there, the cheapest is $22 for half hour. We cant afford that and is there anyone you can refer my son for lessons cheaper?

Hello there,

Group lessons are less expensive than private lessons. Check the schools and adult education for group lessons. Yes, some cities offer them usually through the Parks and Recreation Dept. Some music stores offer group lessons. You can ask the folks in the music stores if they know of any group lessons. Sometimes small locally owned guitar shops are better informed about that than the large chain stores are.

One thing about private lessons, your son will learn faster and get individualized instruction. Usually you take one lesson a week for a few weeks. Because you only take lessons for a couple months, the cost is not quite as bad as it may seem. Frankly within a month’s time (4 lessons) your son will know if playing the guitar is for him or not. He may find that he really does not want to learn and quit. Lots of kids think they want to learn to play the guitar. Then when they start lessons, they discover how much work it is to learn. They discover you do not just pick up a guitar and magically make great music instantly. Far more kids quit than continue taking lessons after a month.

Where do I start when giving guitar lessons?

I’m giving a 16 year old girl guitar lessons and I was wondering where to begin. Do I start with chords, scales, or basic tabs?

Basics. How to hold, id the strings (notes), tune ect. Then I’d start with scales.

I took guitar lessons for 6 months, am I on the right track to become an intermediate player?

Posted on January 9th, 2011 by admin

I am still taking private guitar lessons, and I practice 90 minutes daily,
am I on the right track on becoming an intermediate player soon?

of course, just the fact that you practice regularly is great. I’ve been playing guitar for 4 years without lessons, so I don’t think it’s really the taking-lessons part that makes you a good player.

What kind of guitar is pictured in the lessons part of Garageband?

Under "Lesson Store">"Guitar Lessons" what kind of guitar is pictured for the picture of Blues Guitar? It’s in the newest garageband (’11) any help?

One with strings… I think it’s just a made up guitar… so as not to infringe any copyright…

How many guitar lessons do you need to get started?

Posted on November 21st, 2010 by admin

My bf has always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, and I’m thinking of buying him a basic little guitar and setting him up with a few lessons. How many lessons should I set up with an instructor? Just one, and go from there? Should I get a commitment of X amount of lessons? Don’t wanna get scr**ed here. Thinking of getting a Yahama guitar, heard they were OK and not too expensive.

Hey.. James here..

It wasn’t until probably the last six months or so that I’ve been able to play the guitar. I’ve always been very interested since a young age considering my dad and his brothers pretty much grew up on the guitar and drums. It’s always been in the family and when I would watch them play they always made it look so easy.. it seemed like almost a natural thing for them. I tried for years to learn how to play… tried to have my father help me, looked to books to teach me, spent hours on youtube watching people try to explain.. etc. Nothing ever really worked. I eventually gave up for a few years then just within the past year or so I became interested in it again when I would see all these girls just going crazy over musicians at shows/concerts… lol. So I started looking online and came across this website .. http://www.guitar.pcti-system.com … which is an online program with videos and the works that teaches everything you need to know to learn how to play.

It’s probably the best tutorial/instructional course I’ve ever seen… I learned how to play the guitar very quickly and now it seems like I can almost play songs by ear.. something my uncle can do. I’m actually planning on tryin to start up a band with a few friends of mine after I get myself a newer more expensive better quality guitar. But I definitely would have never learned it if it wasn’t for that course.

I hope I was of some help to you my friend, and I wish you the best of luck! Rock on.

What is the most you would pay for guitar lessons?

Posted on October 25th, 2010 by admin

I was looking up guitar lessons and some came up to be like $900 or like $50 an hour.
I find that to be too much and there will be better deals but i was wondering how much is just the right amount in your opinions?

I paid 10 dollars for a half hour about 8 years ago. You might want to just use the free resources online and get your feet wet before you go forking over that much money to learn the basics. http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com has video guitar tabs for the Super Mario Bros music. I think lessons are a good idea but so many people can teach you the basics online.
