What kind of dance lessons are good to teach babies and toddlers?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I recently got a job teaching children and babies at a daycare how to dance. I want to start incorporating lessons into my classes, as well as change up the exercises each week. What kinds of things should I be trying to teach babies, and what kinds of things should I be trying to teach children from 3-5 years old?

Don’t expect amazing things from 3-5 year olds.

Here’s RADs pre-primary syllabus:
Running in a circle
Running en diagonale
Walking with stretched feet
Walking on demi-pointe
Skips
Demi-plies
Rises
Points
Knee bends
Jumps
Bounces
Claps
Marches
Pony steps
Pony trots
Pony galops

Here’s the primary:
Swaying
Step close step point
Knee lifts
Stork walks
Sautes
Echappes sautes
Spring points
Galops sideways
Jumps with eye focus
Skip change of step

Here’s grade 1:
Battlements tendus
Petit jetes
Bivided battlements tensud
Transfer of weight
Classical walks
Swaying
Spinning
Soubresauts
Galops forward
Step forward (heel toe)
Picked up runs

For babies, focus on rhythm and movement. Clapping in time, counting to 4, bouncing in time, ‘free dance’ to music, happy feet and sad feet (pointed and flexed), pretending to be animals /ghosts /trees /princesses /butterflies, etc.

What does everyone think about online guitar lessons versus lessons from an instructor?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I need help deciding whether to get guitar lesslessons online or go to an actual instructor.

When learning an instrument, an actual teacher is the only way to go. Online studies might teach you a few chords, but that’s no substitute for personal instruction.

What’s the difference between keyboard lessons and piano lessons?

Posted on February 24th, 2010 by admin

I just bought myself an electronic keyboard and i’m planning to learn it online. I googled for lessons and most of the links are for piano lessons. So is it okay if i learn to play the electronic keyboard with online piano lessons? (for eg. http://www.zebrakeys.com/lessons/) Or do electronic keyboards have their own specific lessons and are different from piano lessons?

i would appreciate it if i can get links for some of the best electronic keyboard lessons online also!

Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!! :D
Keyboards and acoustic pianos play the same notes and the same rhythms, but keyboards have additional features such as multiple sounds, background accompaniment, recording capability, MIDI capability, etc. Keyboards are usually portable and do not always have the full 88 keys. Digital pianos are digital keyboard instruments that are less portable than typical keyboards and have all 88 keys, but have a few of the digital features, such as a limited number of additional sounds.

To learn to play the keyboard, start with piano lesslessons to learn the basics. Then you will need to focus on learning the style of music that you wish to play. Classical music is usually played on an acoustic piano, or at least a digital piano. Popular music, jazz, rock, country, etc. are often played on keyboards.

Are electric guitar lessons the same as acoustic guitar lessons?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

Ok so i wanna take lead electric guitar lessons… my dad told me that electric and acoustic guitar are the same when it comes to taking lessons. Is That true?

Jason,

Most people play electric and acoustic pretty differently (generally lots of strumming on acoustic, more chunking and playing single notes on electric).

If you really want to play lead guitar, then do NOT take acoustic guitar lessons. The guys teaching acoustic will show you some awesome stuff and a good teacher will teach you well, but you will NOT learn lead like you want to.

Good luck finding the right lessons to teach you lead.

Need Help Thinking of a Preschool Lesson Plan?

Posted on February 16th, 2010 by admin

I’m in high school and I take a child development class where we teach the preschool class. I love it a lot, except I am horrible at coming up with lesson plans! For this week, I am in charge of teaching the letters Q and R. I was thinking about doing Quilt for Q, and Rabbit for R.

So I need lessons that could be in math, science, language arts, or art that have to do with either of these topics. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

in some areas there are stores dedicated to this. i now of one called 3Rs http://www.the3rs.com/
you might wanna check out the site or do a search for other learning/teaching supply companies.
They allow you to order teaching aid supplies, and even if you don’t want to order something they’re site might help give you visual aid ideas for this, sense it seems your on a bit of a time crunch.

What is the spirital lesson on missing someone?

Posted on February 16th, 2010 by admin

Also, what is the spiritual lesson in wanting someone you can not have?

Learning to accept what is, when you cannot change it, will give you peace. Of course, this also means you need to be able to assess when you can or cannot change it.

When something involves the will of another person, the limit is reached if you are being honest and fair with them. Wanting someone you cannot realistically have is part of growing up. It is common, for example, for people to have fantasies about having a relationship with someone famous. It helps define what you really admire. But if you fixate on one person to the extent that you do more than perhaps write a fan letter, you set yourself up for disappointment and possibly criminal charges.

That’s why celebrities need bodyguards.

Electric Guitar Lessons?

Posted on February 13th, 2010 by admin

I’m getting an electric guitar for Christmas and I do not know a thing about guitars, I really want to learn but I dont really want to get lessons because we dont have the money. Is there any site where I can learn to play electric guitar PROPERLY without paying online? Thanks.

Hey there

First of all, that’s awesome that you’re getting a guitar for Christmas!! As far as learning online, there are many resources you can find online that offer free online lessons. If you want really good quality lessons though you might have to pay a bit of money for an online course.

Paid online guitar courses are pretty cheap(anywhere from $20 - $200) and can provide you with lessons for up to a year. Personally I think that is the way to go. Courses like Jamorama.com would be perfect for you I think.

I hope this helps

What is a reasonable amount to charge for a horseback riding lesson?

Posted on February 11th, 2010 by admin

There is a place literally walking distance from my house that’s really nice, but it seems a little pricy. The rates are $60 for a private half hour lesson, and $50 for a group hour lesson. Is it just me, or are these prices insane?

You can’t judge a riding lesson based on the price alone. For what the trainer/instructor is teaching, it may be just right or even too little. What kind of riding lessons are they? I suspect that it may be of a discpline,….dressage or hunter jumper or eventing or reining or cutting?….

If you want a cheap lesson, you might want to go with a backyard instructor. they charge about $20-25 an hour or less and they probably don’t have the credentials of that barn’s trainer/instructor.

For a dressage trainer/instructor, they can charge anywhere from $35 - 75 or more an hour.

What kind of training does the instructor have at that barn? If the barn is really "nice" then maybe the instructor has taken the time and effort to learn a lot about real horsemanship so the price will reflect that.

It takes YEARS of riding and taking instruction from top notch trainers to become an intructor who can and should rightfully charge a lot of money for having taken the time to aquire that kind of knowledge.

You get what you paid for. Maybe this instructor is also into competing, so the better the trainer, the higher the price.

Also, take into consideration your area. Is it high price? I suspect so. The cost of running a barn in your area may be substantially higher than other areas. Also, the type of lesson horses can reflect the cost, too. Are they warmbloods that are well proven?

I suspect there’s a good reason for the price. Find out what it is. If this person didn’t think they could get that price, they’d go out of business very quickly. Obviously, they haven’t.

As for your actual question: what’s a reasonable amount to charge for a lesson?

That depends on what kind of lesson and from who you’re taking it from and if you are using your own horse or you’re using the lesson horses available.

You can pay anywhere from $20 on up to a hundred an hour. Depends on your area, too.

Reasonable? That depends on the skill level of the trainer/instructor.

Anything having to do with horses is highly subjective. There is no "right or wrong" answer for this type of question. Depends on too many individual factors.

POWER POINT LESSONS FOR KINDERGARTEN KIDS?

Posted on February 11th, 2010 by admin

Im looking for a website where i can download free PPT for kindergarten kids…i use an LCD screen so PPT’s will be great …if you can also refer me some ppt with audio i will really appreciated it..

thank you

There are several sites that have some good material - a few are public school sites and the PPTs address the specific state’s learning standards.

Making your own Powerpoints is actually very easy and you can customize them as needed - the interactive features are great for individual time as well as large group. If you can find a class or workshop that teaches PPT for educators - that would be great and very, very helpful for you to make your class exciting for the kids.

Sites with ready-made presentations:
